Remember when.....
Remember back when you would wait all day during school to get home and watch Monday Night Raw? Remember when you would find and excuse to finish all your homework as quick you could so you could watch Nitro? And do you remember that excitement you got when your mum would finally pay for the PPV you wanted to see?
Do you still get those feelings? I bet you don't. In fact I guarantee that most you only get that excited feeling when something surprises you. And I can be damn sure that you get that surprised feeling even less than you get that excited feeling.
We as wrestling fans have a problem. Yes. We have the problem that causes us to ruin our own addiction. We over think. It's completely natural. We over think, we get curious, we create our own booking situations, we read spoilers, we complain about the negatives and this in return leads to one thing. WE RUIN THE PRODUCT.
And yes the companies do have some worse than strong episodes and they do ruin their own buzz at times (the recent reveal of Batista for instance) but there is no reason that we can't just shut off and think about the parts of the shows we enjoyed.

The reason I am mentioning this is because recently I have been hearing the word about the possible Brock Lesnar vs The Undertaker match at Mania. This match between two behemoths could be brilliant. Brock is a legitimate beast of a fighter and Taker is a big man who isn't afraid to get into the fire when the heat comes at him.
Now, the standard or casual fan would love this match because it is two recognisable names going at it on the biggest stage of them all but the IWC seems to have found this match problematic. They seem to feel that Brock would injure The Undertaker. But lets be honest, is that not part of the job description? You don't sign up to be a wrestler and expect to land on pillows.
Brock could, and I won't beat around the bush, honestly kill Taker in the cage. He has that animal instinct but do you honestly believe that WWE would consider putting these two men against each other if they thought Brock would end the career of one of their biggest stars ever? WWE would never risk the health of a superstar now. Especially after all the negative press they received for Benoit, Owen Hart and Droz.
Just think back to 2002/2003w hen we saw Brock and Taker go at it feuding over the WWE title. Those matches were brutal especially this one, (BLOOD - viewer discretion is advised)
That match showed just how good they could be. They are big guys who can go bell to bell with no problems. Yes Taker is older now but do you honestly believe the casual fan cares? The casual fan would mark out the minute this match was announced. Undertaker, to the fans, is unstoppable. He is 21 - 0 at wrestlemania and in their eyes he won every match even if they are scripted. To the casual fans Brock is the an who Brock HHH's arm, made Cena bleed, destroed Mark Henry with an F-5 and drove Big Show through the ring. OF COURSE THE CASUAL FANS WOULD LOVE THAT MATCH.
Do you know why they would love that match? Because they don't over think the situation. They roll with it. Most fans couldn't tell you how old Undertaker is without looking it up.
We, the IWC, need to remember to just enjoy the product. Yes Vince has put some bad shows on but the product is getting better again. We should learn to just watch week by week instead of trying to create the perfect image of the perfect match in our heads and just let the companies try an surprise us again.

Tips for doing this
- Avoid spoilers - If you miss the show, don't read spoilers. Look it up on youtube. Yes you might have to wait two day but hey it's gonna be worth it.
- Try to go in clean - by this I mean don't sit for an hour before RAW thinking about what to expect. Set your expectations low and see how impressed you can be.
- Don't just support the favourites - give YOUR favourites the praise. If you like Santino then you like Santino. Just because someone tells you he isn't good doesn't mean you have to dislike him. If you are entertained by someone then thats good. They are wrestling to entertain you. I for one am a huge Jeff Hardy fan. Always have been, always will be. Yes I was upset with the drug charges but I still appreciate his wrestling and in ring skills.
AND MOST OF ALL
- Try to just let go - What would 9 year old you do when your favourite superstar walks out? I know I would have made everyone else in the room shut up. I WANNA HEAR THAT THEME MUSIC! Remember yourself and think about how excited you can get. Mark out occasionally and don't get embarrassed.
So take your time and just kick back. Wrestling is meant to be fun. Now go and look up your favourite match and feel good.
